Please excuse the brevity of this post. Turns out that when you have a job, you need to go to sleep before 3 a.m. Oh, and also, they make you stay there ALL DAY. What the f…ruit? However, my mother will beat me senseless if I don’t post these pictures from their trip here last weekend. Here there are. Happy, woman? (Just kidding. XOXOXO)

We had a lovely visit. We went hiking in Yellowwood State Park, wherein we saw a red-shouldered hawk and some Eastern towhees, huddled amongst the bald cypress knees, and drove through several small streams that had the temerity to cross our road. Oh, and Mom shoplifted a log. She’ll do that, if you give her the chance.

My knees, the cypress knees – you get the picture.

And then this past Saturday, showing a distinct lack of originality, I went again with TSC.  You can read her much fuller account here, but I’d like to clarify that we weren’t hopelessly lost in the sense that we didn’t know where we were. We just couldn’t find the trail. A commonplace enough situation. Could happen to anyone. No need to get bent out of shape.

NOT lost. NOT. Despite appearances to the contrary.

P.S. Just to clarify, Mom and That Guy are consulting an Audubon tree guide. Not that He isn’t nerdly enough to carry other sorts of texts on a hike, but that I wouldn’t let him. Also, how about those bald cypress knees? Oddly gruesome (which will also be the name of my band if I ever start one).

One Response to “Yellowwood”

  1. […] The Mean Sister’s account of the day is slightly different, but I stand by my story! There was panic, betrayal, and intrigue! […]
